Moving is without a doubt one of the most stressful events in one’s life. It’s so stressful that a lot of movers find themselves failing to cope with the things they need to accomplish before the big move. However, the fact is avoiding stress is just a matter of being prepared and foreseeing problems. Here are some tips to follow for smooth and hassle-free move.

* Call utility providers as soon as you can. If you’re like most movers then you probably put off informing gas, electricity, cable and Internet providers about your move. The last several days before a move are the busiest so you won’t have time then to make your calls.
* While you’re contacting your utility providers, give your insurance company a call as well. Coverage varies depending on the state you live in so make sure you let your company know about your move.
* Pack your essentials in a carry-on bag. Naturally, you can’t expect to get unpacked on the very first day at your new house. This is why it’s important to pack the things you need during the first couple of days in a convenient and accessible bag. These essentials may include toiletries, a change of clothes, etc.
