When it comes to cleaning and organizing your home, procrastination is one of the obstacles that you are likely to face. You probably know how it goes: you make a plan to clean up or get your stuff in order but you tell yourself that you can always do it later. Before you know it, it’s been a month and you still haven’t gotten around to doing what you set out to do. Here are some tips to help you beat procrastination.

If you are facing a big project, it will be easier to accomplish it if you break up the project into smaller parts. For instance, if de-cluttering the entire house is your goal, why not divide the project into rooms. For the first week, you can work on cleaning up the living room, the kitchen during the next week, the dining room the next and so on.

Make a list. Writing down a to-do list makes your plans more official and concrete. If they’re recorded in paper, the more likely you are to accomplish them.

It’s also important that you prepare all the tools you need. For instance, if you’re planning to work on a garden, it’s very easy to procrastinate when you find that you don’t have the things you need for the job. So before getting started, round up all the materials you need so you don’t get to have an excuse.
