The bathroom is undoubtedly one of the rooms in the house that speaks volumes about the homeowner. For instance, imaging having a guest over for dinner who is visiting your home for the first time. The guest excuses himself to go to the bathroom and it turns out that your bathroom has moss on the wall, a flush that doesn’t work, a tissue holder that’s fresh out of toilet paper and a mirror that’s clouded by steam and dust. Once he goes back to the table, you can bet that this particular guest will not be thinking the same about you.

Keeping your bathroom clean and well-stocked is the most important rule, but if you want a bathroom that combines both function and style then you probably want something more dramatic. Unfortunately, not all of us can afford remodeling. The next best thing that you can do is purchase a new vanity for your bathroom. A vanity is basically a furniture piece or an arrangement that features a sink, a mirror, a countertop and storage spaces. Not only can they make your bathroom look less cluttered but they can also contribute to the design of the entire bathroom.

One of the first things to consider when purchasing a bathroom vanity is the future users of the room. Is it a powder room reserved for visitors or is it a bathroom for the entire family? Answering this question can already give you a good idea of what you should get. A powder room vanity need not be the most durable and may or may not feature a lot of storage areas. Just be sure that the counter is equipped with basic toiletries like toiler paper and liquid soap. A vanity table used by the entire family needs to be more durable and must feature more storage cabinets.
